In this chapter she will bring you to the beginning of her childhood in Indonesia. Growing up in a house where my Mom cooked 3x a day. Always made sure everything is freshfrom vegetables to freshly slaughtered chicken, beef and fish. She also made her own spice mix and boemboe from scratcht.
We never ate a leftover food from the day before even for breakfast.

MISTAKES WITH LEARNING HOW TO COOK INDONESIAN FOODS
1. Have no idea what is authentic Indonesian foods. Thinking they can cook a great Indonesian dish without ever exploring Indonesian dishes in Indonesia.
2. Learning to cook with a recipe instead of learning how to cook inspired by a recipe.
3. Learning to cook by using something instant from a food packaged and easily satisfied if people think it is good.
4. Thinking that to create a delicious dish you have to use an expensive equipments (pan, stove, mixer, food processor)
5. Thinking what they make is already the best of the best: Is not open to other people’s palate. Is not open to different style of cooking. Thinking there is only one standard of good / delicious taste of a dish (Stop exploring).
6. Only want to learn from a famous Chef (locally or Internationally)
7. Go to just any Indonesian person to learn to cook for the first time or before they explore Indonesian dish in Indonesia.
8. Cook Indonesian foods with totally western technique. In many cases, it will come out very different.
9. Putting something instant (ex: seasoning block/ bouillon) to make the food taste good.
10. Cooking Indonesian foods without knowing the history or the culture of the foods. This has effect on how to execute the dish so it turn out right that even the native people of the dish agreed upon the dish. For ex: Minang people can say: yes this is rendang! :)
