ANNEKE'S KITCHEN
LvY Indonesia is a "Home" Restaurant that will take you back to all the flavours and experiences of Anneke's childhood in Indonesia in the form of a modern and progressive Indonesian cuisine which also authentic.
So, welcome to Anneke's home..
The story begins at home where her artistic and health concerned Mom provided her family with fresh home cooked meals with 3-5 different meals/day. Add to this a culture where you can experience lots of different kinds of food on every street corner. So from the moment Anneke opened her eyes and smelled the food her mom was cooking, to walking to school smelling various food everywhere, eating at school, walking back and eating food on the street, to eating at home again. Anneke's restaurant tells the story of Anneke's memories, experiences and point of views of Indonesia.
Anneke about LvY Indonesia:
" People ask me why I started this restaurant and why I do what I do, instead of something else?
This comes from my love of Indonesia and its cuisine and my own disappointment of how Asian cuisine, especially Indonesian cuisine, served or portrayed in western countries. From how it's prepared, served and adjusted too much to western palettes and lost it's authenticity.
Real Indonesian foods are mostly labour of love. From the many ingredients just to make one dish to the hours that are spent to make it. A shortcut to make it, adding much sugar or taking out a lot of spices are a real disaster that destroys its amazing flavour.
My western clients from my cooking workshops think they would never (if they had to) sell their Indonesian foods very cheap after they know how much ingredients and effort it takes just to make one dish.
I always tell them you should question what you eat, if you pay very cheap and get too much. It just doesn't make any sense. "
